CICWJ was found in 1997 by religious leaders and is affiliated with Interfaith Worker Justice. The group organizes and educates to improve wages, benefits and working conditions for workers, especially low-wage workers, and supports collective bargaining rights. CICWJ also provides religious groups with educational resources on work and justice such as studies, workshops and speakers. Each year CICWJ holds the Religion-Labor dinner and Interfaith Community Breakfast for their on-going educational efforts. The group also works alongside labor groups such as the Justice for Cincinnati Janitors Campaign, The Cincinnati AFC-CIO partnerships, they listen, dialogue, and act in response to these workers’ labor needs and concerns.
