Community Education Offerings

These days, we are offering a few educational options to groups. One is our Community Journey, which provides an introduction to Over-the-Rhine and Cincinnati’s downtown area, with a special focus on race, class, and social justice. It starts with some historical context, and then takes groups on a walking tour of the neighborhood, highlighting the issues and struggles of local residents within a critical analysis of social structures and urban development practices. It ends with a brief reflection and discussion. The experience lasts about 1.5 hours, and costs $150.00. We also have an interactive educational activity which provides a look at what has happened to housing affordability in Over-the-Rhine in the last 15 years. The activity takes about 30 mins, and we usually incorporate another 30 minutes for some context and discussion. The fee is $75.00. We also offer panel discussions targeted at particular topics, such as urban education or gentrification. These feature 2 or 3 neighborhood resident educators who speak from their lived experience, and also offer structural analysis. They last about 1.5 hours, and cost $150.00. If there is a special area of interest for a certain group, we are happy to tailor our panel discussions accordingly. Lastly, we’ve got a number of other educational tools, including videos that feature the voices of neighborhood residents, and smaller activities for discussion and reflection. We’d be happy to combine any number of these with a community education speaker, in order to work within the budget, time, and focus area of a particular group.
